accessing an ftp site using IE- How?

Isnt there a way to access an ftp site by using IE? I mean cant you type something like:
http://256.41.78.12/login/password/port or something like that? I set up a ftp with family pictures but many relatives do not have an ftp program. I would rather just give them an address to go get it. thanks!

To access an FTP site, you'd type something like this: 'ftp://ftp.domainhere.net/dir1/dir2'
only you would replace the domain and the directories with the appropriate names.
