while "tidying up" my pc i renamed on of my 8 hard drives
now i can only access folders/files dated later than the day i tidied up
i have started changing ownership access in safe mode but i am having to do it folder by folder iw will not allow me to change ownership on nested folders so its going to take me months - if not years to regain access to everything.
my question is, how can i regain access to the whole drive?
is there a piece of software to globally reset permissions or does anyone know a work around for this?

im using xp home and ntfs file system
6 physical drives but 2 are prtitioned into two drives giving 8 in total
im concentrating on 1 drive at present but i am aware that the problem is spread across all my drives
thanks in advance
Andy

What do you mean renamed a drive? Changing the filesystem label or the drive letter/directory where it's mounted won't affect the ownership or ACLs at all.
