Access Denied..WTF?!

I have a few folders on a backup drive that I use to store programs, tv shows, etc....a few of the folders contain directories which for some apparent reason I don't have access to...when I try to enter or remove the directories it just says access denied...the particular folder was an ATI folder that is empty but I used to extract a driver to. anyone know how to get around it? I tried restarting windows a billion times since I emptied the folder, and just recently formatted my hard drive...still the same error..any ideas?

You'll probably have to login as 'Administrator' under Safe mode and take ownership of the folder.
You don't need to log in under Safe Mode to do that.
