I had an interview with an admissions counselor today. Ordinarily I would obviously send a "Thank You" card by post, however, at the end of the interview when the counselor gave me their card they mention that because they would be on the road it would be best to contact them by email.

On the one hand I would like them to receive the "Thank You" as soon as possible, however, at the same time I wonder whether email is the right format for that. Experience or advice appreciated!

I always felt a bit awkward sending actual mail... especially since it took a while. Email always worked great for me. It's a bonus if you ask them a few more questions in the email - they'll be forced to respond. They'll see your interest in the position and will remember your name.

I think these days it's fine to use email. Like KillerCharlie said, it's quicker and allows for dialog. Plus the guy said he'd be on the road... email it is!

It depends on the person that interviewed you and the company in general. However, I would say that for most interviews, it is perfectly acceptable.
