acceptable temperature range for motherboard & cpu

what is an acceptable range temp of motherboard and cpu. generally speaking. my motherboard is 40c and my cpu is 59c.
is that an acceptable range?

If your asus thoses temps are fine! Asus temps are always screwed. For example it shows 43c in asus program and in sis sandra and mbm5 it shows 61c

I am running 34C/50C and I think that is too high (but that is just my opinion). I usually run aroung 30/47 but it's summer here in Germany and the temperature is finally up. I don't know what I am going to do when I get back to the good ole USA and have to deal with what I consider normal temps again. It's usually pretty cool here and temps are not a problem.

there are different temp readings with different mobos.

most mobo's have a "case" temperature which is a sensor away from the cpu.

then there's the "surface" temperature which is the air surrounding the cpu.
and finally the "core" temperature the temperature on the underside of the processor.

depending on which mobo u have you may be getting a surface temp instead of a core temp.

oh and if u have a amd proc their rated to 90 celsisus and that's not a lie. i bought a xp2100+ and used the crappy stock hsf and i reached temps of 85 C and it started crashing at 88C
