Accelero X1 doesn't fit 7900GT's?!?!

Hey all I'm thinking of getting a 7900GT and need it to be REAL QUIET but I want to OC it, of course.

I was originally going to buy the Zalman VF900, then I read a few reviews raving about the AcceleroX1. However, they said it doesn't fit a 7900GT, just the GTX. Is this true?

If so, Is the Zalman VF900 still a good choice?

Thanks!

I'd just get an NVSilencer rev5 I think. Cut off the back end. Much cheaper than a VF-900 but I guess that's the type of person I am. THe VF-900 is still a great VGA cooler though I think the accelero's are better.

SPCR reviews and other reviews rank the VF900 close to the X1. Some sites list the VF900 even better. The X1 > Silencer in cooling and noise. So i guess its up to the op to decide. If price isnt a issue id get a VF900 otherwise stick with the silencer.

Even if the Accelero X1 was an option I would say the VF-900 is the better choice for the following reasons.

1. If the history of the Silencer is any indication Zalman definitely seems to us a better fan, especially from a noise perspective.
2. The VF-900 has is compatible with just about every modern card currently out and is very easy to install. It also has a very small profile and low weight.
3. Due to their design the VF-700/900 cool not only the GPU and RAM but also the other board components such as the power regulation circuitry.

when have the silencers had problems with noise? I'm just wondering.

I think #2 is a great point as you could use it on future cards.

The Accellero basically covers the whole entire card and uses 3 heatpipes. It has an outlet for cooling the pwc as well.

According to SPCR's reviews the Silencers have never used a very good fan compared to what is on the VF-700/900. The Accelero looks like it uses the same fan so I would be skeptical of sounding any better then the Silencer.

That's crazy. I've used 2 different Silencer's, one on an x800xl and one on a 7800GT. At full blast, the fans are nearly silent. Also, with ambient room noise and typical system fan noise you'll be hard pressed to know the Silencer is even running. I sure wish AC would have stayed with the same active DHES design for the 7900. Being that is wishful thinking, the VF900 looks to be a great choice and I'll probably put one on my 7900GT OC.....

I have two Silencers on my 7900GTs. One is dead quiet, one rattles a tiny bit at times. Still waaay quieter than any OEM cooler by far though...

Silencers are pretty good, but VF900s are awesome too.

Reviews conflict because the NV series coolers blow air out the case. VF900/700 circulates air inside the case. Thus, it relaly depends on your airflow. If yo uhave crap@$$ airflow, a Rev5 might do better, whereas if you have decent airflow, the VF900 should win.
