Hey all
I have a sapphire 512MB 4870, it has the black heatpipe fan that the new ones have. The stock heatsink is pretty good, allows the gpu to run at 44c idle and 50 load on automatic however at load it revs up to 3000rpm which is very loud. I manually set the fan to 45% which brings it to 1800rpm all the time and is quiet but it runs at 48c idle and 68c load which also heats the rest of my system up.
I just set up a new pc for my nephew which has an 8800gt with the accelero S1 cooler, I only have 1 case fan on it and it's near the hard drive rack blowing air directly into the video card. I have a 120mm heatsink which blows air out the back of the case and it seems to work well. I was wondering if it would improve my noise levels and temps if I installed the accelero S1 rev2 on my 4870 or if I'm better off just using the stock cooler?
