I just bought AccelroS1 Rev.2 from svc.com for my 8800gt. I was installing it and realized that there is only enough heatsinks for Ram, and needed three more for Voltage regulators. I guess arctic cooling thinks it is not necessary on 8800gt. They provided VR heatsinks for 1950,1900,1800. So I went ahead and installed the whole thing without VR heatsinks, and added a 120mm fan. My idle dropped from 58c to 38c. (640Mhz/1900) Haven't tested the load yet. Still concerned about Voltage regulators, because the original heatsink from XFX has been cooling it. Also I found several installation pictures for 8800gt cooling with heatsinks on VR.

I'm planning to overclock mine. Is the VR heatsinks necessary, will it make much of a difference

Although I don't have any experience with any other aftermarket coolers, I had installed the S1 with the fan attachment and I must say it is incredible.

Temperatures under load (full settings WoW @ 1920x1080) were between 100-110 celcius and after the cooler was installed they dropped to high 40's

There was problem with my stock cooler which is why the temperatures were so high, but I am loving this soo much because I don't have to end up chucking out a video card I spent a great deal of money on (x1900xtx)

I'm curious also. In case it does or you feel that it does, here are the VR heatsinks in the photo for $5.99 + about $2.75 shipping from SVC (super saver shipping):

You don't need them its only for certain cards, but the 8800 gt stays cool enough that it doesn't need them...

That's what I'm thinking also. If the 8800GT doesn't need them, I can only assume that the HD3850 also does not need them. I'm thinking that the air from the fan (assuming that you have one installed) will be enough to cool the VR's on either card (I'm installing a turned down 120mm Yate-Loon).

The pic of the card looks like only 3 of the 4 sinks shown in the kit linked to by Engineer are used, the 4th odd sized one I don't see. Is it not needed? Are they glued on or can they be removed later if needed?

Edit-- Actually on 2nd glance it looks like 2 of the 3 short ones are used & the 1 odd-ball.

I just took the long one that was provided with the accelero rev2 and sawed it into three pieces and stuck it on with some super glue on the ends to the three areas with the vreg's

I took that photo, at the time of taking the photo I forgot to install the 4th heatsink. I installed it afterwards though. Not sure if its needed, but I figured it wouldnt hurt so might as well install them.
