Acceleration problems with Dodge Avenger 2011

The car accelerates fine, but doesn’t go forward st all, from park it goes maybe 2-3 ft even tho the motor is clearly accelerating
 
So... the engine revs but the car doesn't move, or at least not much?

Is the parking brake on?

Assuming it's not, did you snap an axle?

Assuming those are fine, it sounds like your transmission is chunky tuna. Is it possible somebody put the car in reverse while driving on the interstate?
 
Is this an automatic or manual trans? I assume automatic. Sounds like the trans is shot. If you are lucky, might just be low on fluid, but sounds more serious. Does the car rev smoothly or does it buck and finally stall?
