Ok so I'm a Virginia Tech student so I am completely psyched that UVA lost today. That means that Tech still has a chance to win the ACC. But how would do the standings work?

Tech has the tie breaker over UNC so does it use that after the conference record or does it go straight to Overall Record?

Also UVA will have the same Conference record as Tech does, but, assuming Tech beats Clemson tomorrow, they will be one win less overall. Since they split the series does that mean it goes to overall and Tech wins the ACC Title outright? Or would they share it?

This is my first year follow College Basketball (I follow most other sports) and I honestly don't know why I haven't done it all along.

ACC regular season title always goes to the best CONFERENCE record.

A team 16-0 in the ACC but 16-14 overall would finish in the ACC higher than a team 15-1 in the ACC and 29-1 overall.

First tiebreaker is head to head.I'm not sure what the second tiebreaker is.

Yea I knew about the Conference first.

Ok so after that it goes to head to head record. Tech and UVA split the series 1-1. So does anyone know what the third tie breaker is? Assuming Tech wins tomorrow, they will have the same Conference Record, Tied the series 1-1, but will have one more win. Does that put them in the ACC lead (again, assuming they win)?

Tie Breaking Formula

(1) When two teams are tied in the standings, regular season head-to-head results are used as the tie-breaker.

(2) If the two tied teams split their regular season games, the tie is broken by comparing each team's records against the team occupying the highest position in the standings, and then continuing down until one team gains an advantage.

(3) If three or more teams are tied, the combined record of each team against the other teams involved is used to break the tie. After this procedure, if two teams remain tied procedure (2) is followed.

(4) If procedures (2) and/or (3) fail to establish an advantage, a coin flip to break the tie will be conducted by the Commissioner.

(5) If there is more than one tie in the standings, and when utilizing the tie-breaking procedures you come to a pair of teams tied, a team's record against the combined tied teams is used, rather than performance against the individual tied teams.
