What is the difference, besides about $100? I am a student, but is the license limited somehow? Is it missing features? Same question on Windows XP Pro. Thanks for any help. E-mail is always best for me.

$100 is the difference. Nothing else.
They only put your school ID on file, and then off you go with Office and XP.

Well, the box does say Academic version, but that's the end to all differences.

Academic versions are an excellent deal if ytou can qualify for them. The price is right and the features are standard. My XP Pro is "academic" and there is no activation required. :)

Thanks guys. But were your answers for Office XP or Windows XP or both? Too many XPs to deal with right now. If the Windows XP Academic doesn't require activation, that would be great. Does Office XP require activation, too? I had my first run in with Windows XP Pro last weekend and it was fine. It did play games a lot better than W2K and seems to be the same basic file structure. I just figured I would buy the Academic versions before I graduate, but I wanted to make sure they were the same. Thanks.

My experience with Office XP Pro is that it does require activation. Other than that it is a great deal.
