Hi,
I have an Abit IS7-E and my Audigy2ZS recently died, so I'm falling back on the AC97 for a while before I spring for a new Conroe setup. Anyway, I'm using a pair of bookshelf speakers connected to an amp, that's connected to the front L/R channels of the motherboard. I also have a standalone powered subwoofer that's connected to the sub/center channel of the motherboard. I'm able to get audio from my bookshelves, but not from my subwoofer, on windows sounds and mp3s/etc. When I use the sound effects manager to test the channels though, the sub is working. Do the other channels only work for movies or other 5.1 channel sources? Is there any way to get the subs working for regular mp3s/etc?

Thanks!

You will probably have to plug the subwoofer into the receiver to get it to work in stereo mode. Some sound cards have a 5.1 stereo mode where all the speakers will work even in stereo, but I'm not sure if integrated audio would have that feature.

Unfortunately my amp is a stereo power amp(not even integrated) and there aren't any line level outputs to the subwoofer. My old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz had a 5.1 stereo mode, and I remember my Logitech 2.1's subwoofer worked with my Audigy2ZS in stereo mode.
