AC2 ATOT'ers?

I've never bothered asking, but how many ATOT'ers play AC2, or have in the past? Since they just announced today that they're shutting it down as of end of December, I figured I'd check to see what people's plans were for afterwards.

It really sucks, it was such a great game with lots of potential, basically ruined by shoddy non-existant marketing, and broken promises for content that never appeared.

wow... AC 1 was bad ass. I played beta of AC2, never imagined they would shut it down. it was soo highly anticipated, but it just sucked even in beta.

Turbine bought back the rights for distribution from MS, claiming they were going to revamp and fix it, and get Sony to advertise/distribute the Legions expansion pack that came out this year. Instead, it sucked big-time, and now they've decided that it's just not worth their time anymore, since they're busy screwing up the upcoming D&D and LoTR games.

AC2 has always been top-notch technically speaking. The graphics are simply fantastic for an online game, and have been for over 3 years. But there's a huge lack of content, and they didn't really plan ahead when people started leveling faster than anticipated (months faster), so they started messing with the character classes, hoping to slow people down, instead of actually creating content to do.
 
I'd expect sony to shut down AC2 since they own EQ2 which is pretty much an direct competitor. no sense putting another similar prodct in the same marketplace.

now if only someone would make a MMOFPS that didnt suck(planetside) or shut down(WWII online).

You misunderstand, MS was the original distributor/producer, Turbine (developer) bought it back and got Sony to distribute ONLY....they have no control over the game itself, just provide the physical discs and packages to game stores. And I've been subscribed since long before that.

Same deal, Sony didn't shut anything down, Turbine yanked the plug themselves, after months of telling us how they were planning this and that and trying to fix this, and promising player housing and all this cool new stuff that is now never going to happen. The game remains broken, and will until it gets shut off in December.

Yes, yes it did. But they fixed it, and lately the game has been running great, and even with the massive dropoff in population about a year or two ago, there's been a lot of new players because of the Legions expansion. I feel sorry for people who payd $30 for it and are just now getting into the game, and have it yanked away like this.
 
AC was probably the best MMO ever made, in my opinion. AC2 was made so noobs could enjoy it too, but it lost it's hype fast. Guild Wars is decent... waiting for the Lord of the Rings MMO to come out... it's going to be pure insanity.

No, no it's not. Seriously, have you watched how Turbine does their updates? The slam games out before they're finished, then promise things that aren't possible, and change their minds at the last second. Every month they "fixed" something, yet broke something else, and had to do constant hotfixes. They're going to botch it, and botch it bad. It may be popular for a few months, until people get bored with it, and then it'll be another SWG or EQ2, garbage that people wish they could forget about.
 
I played AC1 from release up until the release of AC2, with a few breaks in the middle. I played AC2 from Beta till about 9 into it's life. Hell, I even went to boston for an AC players / dev gathering. I've also done time in DAOC, Horizons and CoH. At this point in time, I'm pretty sure that I'm done with MMOs in general. (just canceled CoH last night).
 
I did the AC2 beta. It was the worst MMO at launch I have ever seen. That was their problem with AC2, the game sucked at launch, and they lost any player base they could have hoped for. It might be a great game now, but nobody would touch it after being burned by it at release.

AC1 was indeed the best MMO for gameplay, if it had had better graphics at release it would probably be one of the top MMO's but EQ had it beat in looks. I wouldn't be surprised if they shut AC1 down next year and focus on their new titles.
 
'MMO' is a stupid term. massively multiplayer online... what? it's lacking a noun. the guy who invented the term should be shot in the face.
 
AC1 was the only MMO that I played, but it seriously took over my life back when the servers were full. The majority of my clanmates moved to AC2 (I stopped playing MMORPGs), but it wasn't before our forum was full of "AC2 Sucks!" posts.
