AC only high works. Low medium does not

Just noticed a few days ago when this started happening on my 98 Expedition. When I turn on the AC in low or medium mode seems like there is a blockage or something and no air is coming out. The AC will on turn on if I set it to High. Not sure if maybe it could be the nobs or something?

But out of the blue when I went to turn on the AC a few days ago it just happen and I know if I take it to a Ford services they will probably charge me an arm and a leg just to fix the problem. Anyone have any thoughts that might be the problem?

Thanks

A Blower Motor Resistor burned down and needs to be replaced. It costs about $37 from the dealer and is located on the passenger side underneath the dashboard. It is held there by 2 screws and very easy to change. Common problem with Nissan cars.

If the fan is running on the lower settings, but no air comes out, it's probably a blend door problem.

If the fan is not running on the lower settings then it's probably the blower resistor.

It's probably the resistor. Had to replace mine in my Nissan Altima.

Easy replacement. The part was a piece of circuit board with copper traces of varying degrees of thickness. Unscrew, unplug, and replace. Mine happened to be under my glove box.

Seems common on Dodge/Chrysler vehicles as well.

Same problem in my 98 Malibu..

Resistor is bad. The switch sends power through all the resistors on low, and progressively less resistors on each higher speed, until the highest speed, which is straight 12v, no resistance.
