Hey guys. I picked up a freezer 64 last night to put in my asus a8n-sli premium with opteron 165. I had soem trouble putting it on, tried to do it with the mobo still in the case but that didn't work. Took the mobo out, but my concern is that the clip mechanism seems to be at an angle on the side with the lever you have to lock down. Let me try and explain...
I released the screw on the lever so I could have the locking mechanism on the opposite side from stock. So when looking at the unit from the rear of my case, I am looking at the fins of the cooler with the fan of the freezer behind it -- that's normal. I fit the lugs over the retention module on the *left* side of the Freezer first (opposite from stock), then lower the lugs on the *right* side and lock the hinge on that side. But the lugs and the hinge on that right side are all at an angle, they are pointing towards the cpu. I expected them to be perpendicular to the mobo. But despite this and the fact it took me no less than a dozen tries to get the locking mechanism down, I still reduced my SP2004 load temps from a high of 61° to a cool 53°. OCCT stability test peaks only at 45°. So basically... am I okay?
