AC danger question

The apt I currently live in has the air conditioning unit in the ceiling. Lately, I've noticed I've been getting headaches and sometimes feeling odd when I'm in my apt for an extended time with the AC running and the windows and doors shut.

I know a furnace can potentially put out dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide and other fumes. Can an AC unit put out any dangerous fumes/compounds if it's malfunctioning?

Thanks,

It's probably just that you are not used to the cool temeratures that AC can provide. I know that I sometimes feel weird if I'm in an air conditioned room for too long, as it's more common to not have AC here in the UK.

I appreciate the replies.

I'm not sure what it could be. I've lived here over a year and have had no complaints about the AC. (I'm in Phoenix so it gets used frequently) I changed the air filters about two weeks ago. Figured it was worth asking since I don't know very much about AC units and have never had one inside my home until I moved here.

It could be the new filters, maybe they use a glue or something that upsets your body.

Otherwise, A/C works by simply passing air over a cold surface & into your house. Not the same as a furnace where things are burned, and gasses are produced.

The only thing I have ever heard is legionaires disease from bacteria growth on the coils.
