AC Adaptor question?

Which is the "+" and the "-" for an AC adaptor plug w/ the male(headphone plug) and female (CD out for headphones)?

I don't not want to cut of the plug from AC adaptor since I have other uses for it as well. I want to use the AC adaptor to power case fans that is stripped.

Thanks in advance

The answer is in your volt meter. Wall warts differ. You can find them with either the outside ring or the inner connector positive. The only ways to know is if it is marked or by testing it.
