AC adapter questions

I have a couple sets of Boston BA735 speakers that don't have the AC adapters. I do have one pair with the OEM one, and it's a 12V AC, 1.5A. I have a few miscellaneous AC->AC adapters of different power ratings, but the plugs are wrong. Before I go cutting them up, I was hoping to find out which ones would actually work with the speakers.

Will the speakers work on a lower amperage? What's the lowest they'll likely work with? What about 1A, or 850ma? Will a 2A adapter fry anything?

Will they work with 10V?

And I have to ask, what will happen if I tried an AC->DC adapter?

The jacks on my adapters are just slightly too small, since they're all 1.7mm ID, and the speakers use one with a 2.1mm ID. It's such a small difference, why do they even make them those two different sizes? If you look at one, then look at the other, you'd think they're the same size. You can only barely tell the difference if you hold them up together. Crazy.

Where is the cheapest place I could buy just some of these jacks?

Also, since it always seems like I'm needing one with the power specs that I don't have, what's the cheapest place to buy AC adapters?

A DC adapter will probably work as more then likely there is a AC/DC circuit already in the device. No they will probably not work with 10Volts but the 12Volt 2A adapter will work and will not fry anything as the device will only draw what it needs
