Abysmal Dual Screen Performance from 6800GT

I've been using my eVGA 6800GT in my new system for about a day now, and the performance has left much to be desired. I got better performance prior to upgrading and it's somewhat annoying.

Old system; AXP 1800, gig 2700 Ram, LeadTek Ti4200
New Rig: A64 939 3200+, gig 4200 Ram, eVGA 6800GT

When running my duals I run CS in a window on the left monitor and continue to surf/chat on the right monitor...if run as normal, moving between windows minimizes CS, while if windowed it remains there. Before with the Ti4200, I got clean performance, mostly hitting 60 fps and occasionally slowing to 40's. New system is hovering in that area and is much more jumpy. Have tried all three settings of multi-monitor performance to no avail...and if I drop it down to single screen it works fine, no lag at all...definitely a multi-mon problem. Any Suggestions?

Yea, Ive heard this issue has been brought up before. Same thing happens with alot of games and nvidia cards. Its just something you have to deal with or use a single monitor for the time being.

yeah real downer 🙁
i used to just run my other monitor whilst playing games cause i was to lazy to un attach it in windows before starting a game. doom 3 dies now unless i unattach the monito inthe properties!!! my 9800 pro didnt have ANY issues with my dual screen set up. not a bigge for me, but u sound like your losing a lot from this opne, if worst comes to worst perhapse a x800 pro??? i only suggest that beacuse my 9800 had no m monitor issues and i imagine it the same with other ATI's.

Well it was going to run faster on your TI4200 as it doesn't support as many features as the 6800GT does. Thats why my Geforce 2 outperforms my Geforce FX in Halo simply because of lack of feature support.

Sounds like a driver issue though, what drivers are you running?

Well that's really not an answer...I went from one Nvidia card to another, and it dropped...but the strange thing is (update since last time)...I switched CS to D3D from OGL and the performance skyrocketed...well into acceptable FPS territory. So the question arises, why would a card do so badly Dualling OGL but not have issues with D3D?

Gamingphreek...features in CS? My Ti4200 had the features maxed out on CS...this isn't like comparing DX8 pathways in Halo vs DX9...as for drivers, I just built the rig yesterday, of course I'm running 61.77's.

i must admit mate u got a point, doom 3 is the only game whe i think about it where having both screens on kills my 6800 GT ( and i mean kills!!! ) and bieng ogl i think were on to something here!!!

I dont think its your card that is the problem, Im running 2 monitors on a eVGA 6800gt and have no problems,

I have a mobile xp 2600 @ 3400mhz and a half gig of mem.

I seriously doubt you are at 3400 Mhz. 3400+ perhaps?
