Here is a short thread detailing the way your home page is hijacked. Once it is hijacked you CD drive opens and closes, your home page is just pop-up spam, and it takes a major registry edit to fix. The company "offering" these features is called "Mailwiper" but NOT NOT GO TO ITS WEBPAGE or you will get infected.

I am fuming mad and considering calling the Atlanta PD and making a criminal complaint against the domain owner. This is not cool.

I don't believe they are from overseas...

Anyways, I will find them one way or another and bring this to court.

My college's library computers have this problem - annoying as hell. The IT department are too stupid to do anything about it.

So are you guys saying you can go to the site listed in the thread and not get infected?

yup, got this one awhile back. it's a total pain in the butt. adaware, spybot, and hijack this did not get rid of it, but for some reason norton did. i am glad to be rid of it, just about came down to formatting my hard drive.
