Absolute best heatsink with fan for socket 940 workstation if money no issue????(MOBO Tyan K8WE Thunder)

As the topic states which air cooled heatsink is the best performer for socket 940. The motherboard used will be Tyan Thunder K8WE. Noise is not a problem. I want absolutely best cooling without blocking the RAM slots though.

There is no such thing as the "absolute best"........
There are way too many variables in cooling that keeps anybody from being able to decalre an absolute best heatsink.

What works well in your system might not work well in a different system.
I would say....the Zalman 9500 or the Scythe Ninja or the Thermalright series XP90 Copper or XP120 or the SI 120...or you can go with the Big Typhoon or the Arctic Cooling brands of heatsinks....

As I stated for obvious reasons there actually is NO absolute best!!

Like JEDIYoda said, there are a few heatsinks that come really close to each other. However, the best heatsink fan is probably the Delta 120mmx38mm TFB1212GHE.

I use Coolermaster fans.

I think I agree with the idea that there are too many factors to bring it down to just one air cooled model, just like there is no single best water cooled setup. You are going to have tradoffs of space, noise levels and just how squarely the bloody thing sits on the CPU and what parts on your particular mommaboard will get blocked or airflow restricted to.

Sorry Dude, but you are going to have to research what is best for your particular situation... and if you use the sense I hope you have, your air will turn to water.

if money is no issue, and this isnt a air setup, id get the CoolIT liquid cooler. Its all pretube'd and preleak tested, and the coolant stays good for 2 yrs. it has a heavy price tag tho of around 399 dollars, but it will blow away even the high end water cooling setups that dont use TEC.

The design on it uses TEC to chill the res. Reviews and demo's showing it keeping a prescott at 27 degree's idle on full setting.

Personally, i might think of it as a upgrade solution because it fits all nicely in the case. But at that price most people will go with phase change. But phase change has problems with condensation and such.

Personally you should check it out, another good fix is the coolmaster aquagate mini. A lot of good reviews have come out on that cpu block.
