absinthe

Has anyone actually tried this stuff? What were you experiences and what brand did you try?

Apparently the hallucinogen in it is only illegal to sell in the US, not illegal to own. Interesting stuff 😉

It definately works, but there are versions of the liquor that don't have the hallucinogen that comes from wormwood in them. You have to buy it where that isn't regulated, which I believe is mainly the Czech Republic.

I've tried it ... tastes like really bad black licorice. No, I didn't hallucinate, however my husband started seeing stuff on his hands for a few seconds (or minutes? I forgot) on his hands, but that was it.

Tastes horrible 🙁 But hey, if you like black licorice, you'll probably like it.

It doesnt work.I ordered some from france. I do not remember the brand name.It had a good amount of thujone.

There is a whole myth surrounding absinthe. The whole hallucinations thing boils down to this: Absinthe has a bunch of expensive essential oils in it.These herbs give it the green color. So back in the day, people used to used chemicals to instead of the expensive herbs to give it color. These chemicals are toxic and were responsible for the hallucnations and madness.

Also the Federal regulations state that a substance may not contain more the "alot of thujone"
i.e. The law is grey.

I tried it for the first time the very day you posted this
it was 90% alcohol, but there are different levels of it, with 55% being the lowest.

no hallucinogenic effect for me off one shot ... I'll try again with the bottle i brought home and let you know 😉

I've had it. Good for getting fvcked up quickly... Tastes like ass, and if you get hangovers, you will regret being born in the morning. Luckily I don't get hangovers though.
Tas.

its certainly an experience.
i would suggest that the difference between it and "regular" alcohol is the difference between getting vodka drunked and tequila drunk.

If you want to get drunk, drink liquor. If you're trying to hallucinate, get some mushrooms or LSD. Absinthe is a myth and most people who claim to experience hallucinations either bought the extremely rare and expensive kind that actually was made from a good bit of wormwood (usually Czech Republic or other central/eastern European countries without much regulation) or are experiencing the placebo effect.

No crazy effects but I got super drunk super fast.
Tasted terrible too.

TOTAL BS!!! I HAVE 4 bottles from Czeck with wormword. Its the real stuff and we drank one bottle a few weeks ago me and some freinds and you get nothing other than drunk. You would have to drink this stuff daily for like 3 months straight to become crazy and see things. TOTAL FARK

Have 3 bottles of the stuff on the left here

and the other bottle is Logan Fils Genuine which is the real deal as well

I'm confused..is it a MYTH...or can Absinthe actually cause hallucinations when used with wormwood. You're contradicting yourself.

I think the real thing does cause Hallucinations. Most people do not have the hardcore real stuff. It's not a myth, its just people getting junk.

it's questionable, and seeing as how i am too lazy to do any real research on this,
tell him to hide it in his check-in bag, and feign ignorance if they question him

that's what my plan was 😉

Wormwood, the "hallucinogen" in Absinthe is not truly illegal in America. Thujone, one of the chemicals that makes up wormwood is classified as a poison by the FDA. Absinthe is not going to make you hallucinate. The wormwood in it mostly acts as a mild stimulant.

And if you'd rather make your own absinthe, you can buy wormwood for three dollars an ounce at http://www.iamshaman.com.

It is not a myth, but many people get the placebo effect from it. My friend who is from Croatia manages to pick up a bottle or two every time he goes back there. It is the real deal.

Good bit of info in the thread here. One thing I'd like to mention, though, is that FFactory's bottle on the left is expensive, but not genuine absinthe. The real deal is distilled (that bottle is macerated) and most definitely - no matter how much fvcking wormwood you can find in it - will NOT give you any hallucinations. Also, most Czech absinthe available nowadays is crappy, and rarely any judge of a properly made absinthe.

The best place to buy from that I've seen so far is Absinthe Vertrieb and in addition to a good selection, they have some good info on most of their products.

Happy Absinthing 😉

I've got a bottle right now in my liquor cabinet. Had it there for 3 years now, and it's still over 1/2 full. Tastes like crap. More of a convesation piece than anything.
