I own 2003 Honda accord and had front brakes changed yesterday, also brake fluid was flushed. Today I had to hit my brakes not too hard but my brake lock and abs didn't kick in. Test brakes in empty parking lot and after locking the brakes abs kicked in but it was pretty much at the end. Any idea on what could be wrong. Still have 150 miles left before my warranty runes out, so I guess I will taking it to dealership tomorrow but was wondering what could be the problem

edit:03 not 04

ABS engages depending on many factors, most importantly, depending on the condition of your tires, which ultimately determines how much grip there is bewtween the road suraface and the tires.

I have a hard time understanding what you mean by the ABS engaging late. The abs modulator and abscomputer detrmines when the brake should be pulsed depending on what info it receives from the sensors.

What brakes are locking up? the front? the rear? at what speeds?

my front tires are brand new just had them installed last Saturday. I am hearing tires locking up and screating. on freeway that is what happened and abs didn't engage. In parking lot brakes locked and i was allmost stopped before abs kicked in

edit: on freeway i braked when i was doing around 60 in parking lot around 15-20. I am not sure which tires locked but i started feeling drifting to the right before letting go of brakes and yes i also hird the noice and was suprised it was comming from my car as i k now i have abs

You can distinctly feal and hear when the ABS kicks on. the pedal vibreates, and there is a distinct noise fromt he actuator as it pulses the pressure.

Anybody that puts 35,000 miles on a car in one year, ought to know VERY well exactly how those brakes feel when they're functioning correctly.

If it ain't right, it ain't right, let the dealer figure it out, and don't quit pestering them until it is right. They won't cut you any slack when the time comes for you to pay for repairs, so stick it to 'em!
