? about Win XP dynamic disks

Does anyone know if there is any benefit to using the dynamic disc option under XP or 2k. I know it allows you to set up a psuedo-RAID file striping system, but if that was not desired, is there any other advantage to using this? I read the help files, but they don't make it very clear.
