I started to completely re-do my system with a couple new additions. I kept my same Asus P5K Premium board, but replaced my 2x 400GB seagate drives with 2x 300GB velociraptor drives, and replaced my 9800GX2 with a 4870x2. The problem I'm having is when I try to install vista, I load the raid drivers and during the install, it sees the partition no problem. I select the raid partition and it starts to go through it's little thing. After about 2 minutes, it gives me an error "Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installation. Error code 0x80070057 "

I am running the latest bios and I did not have a problem with my seagates in a raid0 array. Anybody else have this problem with a P35 chipset running raid0 with the velociraptors? I really hope it's not the drives. I don't want to deal with RMA crap....

Does each disk format OK without the RAID drivers?

I was thinking about upgrading my boot drives, so I have to ask.. do you really need RAID0 with those disks? Is it worth the risk?

Be sure to pull out one stick of memory if you are running 4 GB...

You do not need RAID Drivers with Vista

Simply set-up the raid array using RAID Bios.. "Ctrl I" set-up the array, and then boot off DVD...

If you are not able to see the drives in the RAID BIOS... Use Vista Set-up to format the drives.... after they are formatted.. repeat the above...

i used a WD disk diagnostic tool and it error'd on both my velociraptors and my 640GB. i put in a pcie x1 SATA controller and all drives tested fine. guess my motherboard finally went belly up. i actually made a post asking if i should upgrade it or not, guess i don't have much of a choice now.

i don't do a lot of overclocking, just a small jump. i had my q9550 at 3.5ghz, so that's where i'll be again no doubt. what do yall think of this board GA-EP45-DS3R
