about to request credit increase.....

I am about to go online and ask for a raise on my chase credit card. I am a student, that usually pays on time, and they actually ask how much I want to raise it by.......what is a good number to ask for without going overboard? my limit right now is 6400........is there a magic number??

How much more do you need? I wouldn't ask for more than you need, otherwise you could wind up into serious debt.

If you need to make a $7000 purchase, ask for that much of an increase. If you're charging 6400 every month as a student, you need to cut back your spending.

$7000 or $7500

If you think your chances are good, go for $7500

I hope you have had this card for at least 2 years, have made on time payments, never late and currently owe a low balance ... otherwise 😱

why do you need a high credit line when you don't need it?
i remember i asked for an incease before, but i found it pretty useless since i never spent that much of money.
now they regularly up my credit line even though i didn't ask for it.
wtf am i going to buy with over $10k credit line!?
i'll probably ask for a decrease in the coming months.
