Sony KDS-R50XRB1

Ok I just paid for one of these baby after I got off work. $2600 out the door with a 2 year warranty. Getting it delivered on Sunday. Can't fvcking wait!!!

Sony 46" Widescreen LCD

I initially was going for the Olevia 42" LCD but after seeing the sony at the store I knew it was the one I really wanted to get. The picture quality was better than all the other lcd tv's and was only matched by the sammys. The sammys are a little out of my range so it's going to be the sony. Yes the resolution is 1366 x 768 but just about every lcd tv out there is this resolution. I don't need 1080p either as 720p looks good enough for me.

Thats a bulky RPTV, not an LCD-TV

EDIT: ok so its a bulky DLP - still, I prefer LCD. And with that DLP, you will have to buy a stand too which is probably about $500

Around 80 pounds and 18" deep, but 10" bigger and $700 less.

Since it weighs so little almost any AV rack will work not just custom $500 ones. I used the stand for my 32" tube TV for my 50" Samsung.

Don't want the hassle of replacing the bulb every 2-3 years. Plus 56" is too big for my living room.

BTW, Sammy's and Sony's are identical. Both use Sammy panels, the only difference is the image processor. I assume your getting the Bravia for that price? Because if not, its not a good deal. I love my 32" Sammy

Yea I read something about them sharing the panels at one of samsung's plant. That's probably why their pictures look almost identical but to me the sammys edge out the bravia sonys just a bit. I'm sure I'll be happy with the sony just like many of their owners are.

WTF? Why?

It doesn't have 1080P and it has this spec: 1366 x 768

You would be effectively streching a TINY resolution on a HUGE screen. No thanks.

I use the 37" 1080P as my main computer monitor and it's the greatest toy I have ever owned, and i buy a ton of expensive toys.

This will strictly be for my home entertainment system. I'll mostly be watching dvd movies and OTA HD and maybe HD cable later on so I have no need for 1080p. I already have a Dell 2405 for my computer and that 24" is enough for me.

then spend $1699 on a 50 Vizio Plasma with the 1366x768 resolution. More screen and a better picture for cheaper.

they are gorgeous, walk yourself down to SAMS and have a look see.

Cnet review

The bottom line: With commendable image quality and plenty of connections, the relatively inexpensive V Vizio P50HDM 50-inch plasma is the best value in its class.

Pcmag review

The Vizio P50 HDM is the least expensive 50-inch plasma display I've seen to date, and I came away impressed by its good overall picture quality and selection of A/V inputs. Although not perfect, its few flaws are easier to accept knowing that it's an amazing value for a true high-definition plasma display.

Following this logic, one should not be watching 720p HDTV on a large screen? Do you think a 27" is too large?

The crap people come up with boggles my mind.
