Im ordering a few parts, here they are
Rounded IDE cable (for CDrom, anyone know if they fixed the problems the rounded ones were having a little while back? are these safe?)
Sonata
Artic Silver 5 (this silver stuff is allot better than the white crap that came with my HS)
Antec 80MM fan (for SLK800)
antec 120MM fan (for intake)
bling bling (are the LEDs better than the CLFs?)

that is what im gonna buy, here is what i already have, my goal is to make it quiet

what i am using now:
enlight atx desktop case
dual 80mm Vantec Tornado Fans at 55db
Tt 420watt PSU
Thermalright SLK800
whatever thermal grease got shiped with the HS

im gonna use the PSU that comes with the sontana, a 380watt should be fine for G4TI4200, a7n8x deluxe, raptor, and 2500 barton, right? or will the 420 be used?

I am not going any higher than 30db on the fans, can someone tell me about how much that is? i know my 55db is killing me. and if anyone has reccomendations on alternatives that would be better, do tell.

btw, will a 120mm or a 92mm fan fit on a slk800?

Is that 120mm intake even needed? I just built some systems in SLK3700AMBs, which have a single 120mm exhaust, and it's certainly not having a cooling issue. With a little Dremel attention, a chromed wire grille over the exhaust fan instead of stamped metal, and a reduction in fan speed, these would be pretty stealthy (assuming the hard drive, video card, and CPU fan were all quiet too).

im overclocking the hell out of my barton, i need it, my V/C cannot be heard, im worried about my raptor tho, its loud, and this case is about 30db with its PSU and fans right?

I have never heard a Sonata in operation, but I'd bet it will be below 30dB for sure. I think when you see your CPU fan sitting in the shadow of a 120mm rear exhaust, it'll help ease your mind about the CPU getting hot... in fact, I think I have some photos on my CF card of a SocketA mobo in the SLK3700AMB... please stand by... :)

Darn it, I don't after all :| Sorry, maybe tomorrow. I'm working on a full photo tutorial on how to assemble a PC from scratch, and I have quite a lot of photos down at work of an Asus A7N266-VM/AA system going together in an Antec SLK3700AMB.

I have two of those Antec 120mm fans and they are pretty darn good! Not too loud and very efficient. The cables, well they are just that, and generic, but will get the job done. I use Artic Silver 5 and its pretty good stuff also. No complaints here. As for as the rest of those items, never used them so I can't really comment.

I would reccomend saving a few bucks and grabbing the Antec SLK3700-BQE, it is quiet just like the Sonata, and the PSU that was included ran the system in my sign. without issues for about 3 weeks (Burn in included) until my 480 got back from RMA. I have also been using the Enermax adjustable fans and find they put out more air at the same noise level as the Antec, plus you can make them quieter or louder. Otherwise, enjoy!

In my experience, rounded ATA cables are just fine. I bought 3 sets from SVC 2 years ago and have used them in my home systems ever since without incident. My wife's install of WinXP Home is as old as the cables.

And the Sonata is an excellent choice.

The bling? meh. I can't help there.

I bought 2 pairs of rounded cables from SVC a LONG time ago. One of them still works fine the other was damaged by improper removal, well at least I'm guessing thats how it happened it could have been my POS generic DVD drive that killed it which is dead now too... The master connector works fine its just the slave thats dead or doesn't recognize things right.

Other tthat which im pretty sure was my fault I like rounded ones much better but I really like SATA even more =)
