Extended Warranty: $ .00
Product total: $2,002.43

Anything I should get extended warranty on? The red mx510 is out of stock, I'll get it later.

Sorry for the list not being all prettyfied, I am ordering in minutes. Mobo + proc + gfx card = only upgrades in the next year or so. The rest = my solid system. I was figuring since the combo drive is good enough for alienware, it's good enough for me, unless someone KNOWS it's crap in which case I'll swap it for samsung.

get a decent psu like an antec truepower 480w or better, get rid of that crap dual cd/dvd drive spend a bit more and get the nec nd3500a burner. Other than that its looking good if you are planning on upgrading the mb,cpu,vc like u said.

as the guy above said...get better PSU...300watts is barely enough!!
The combo drive although reasonable is not as good as separate drives!!

Why the hell do you need to spend $400 on a set of speakers.......

you don't appear to have a grasp of what makes a decent system.....Although the klipsch are good speakers.....systems nearly as good can be had for a lot less....

Spend the defference between the klipsch and the nearly as good speakers and upgrade the other bits

Klipsch is something I've wanted for four years straight. I'm indulging myself a tad here ;) The fact that they'll still be running strong at the next presidential election is one of the reasons I'm splurging there. Oh, and the insane quality? And the psychological sweetness of achieving one of my boyhood goals?

Yeah. Priceless.

PSU changed to a 400+ watt model.

Drive changed to a cd drive and a dvd-rom.

I had this whole thing laid out before except with cheap speakers and a cheap monitor. I decided not to skimp there.

I may seem uncooperative but thanks for helping.

why cd ROM and DVD ROM....do you have no need for back ups etc......better to get a DVD ROM and a dual layer DVD +/-RW....not too much more expensive

I would highly recommend you getting a nforce 3 chipset. Like the Epox 9NDA3 or MSI K8N. I do not like VIA's chipsets this round. Bios bugs and bad SATA/RAID problems.

well, I don't think I'll be burning that much media for a while.

the reason my setup is a little weird is that I have a onetime amount of money to spend, and I can manage the money later on for a better PSU (100ish dollars) a better mobo (100ish dollars after christmas).. but a better monitor, a better sound system, those are larger amounts.

the truth is all I want for the moment is a cheap solution that lets me play dvds and cds.

hm, just decided that I will go with the combo drive that alienware uses. if I want to backup, I have a diamondmax 5,400 rpm 60gig to put ISOs on. (slow but reliable)

I know it looks like I don't have a clue here, but thanks for the input, you've helped.

$400.00 is too much for speakers, regardless of what they are... :disgust:

I'd get an nforce3 motherboard, and drop the fugly case, but other than that it looks nice. hehe

Come post christmas time with the low prices, I'll clean up on a nforce4 mobo, a 2.5ghz 64bit, and a 800XT, maybe a 550watt Antec and good cooling system, and put the old parts in a mediacenter PC.

ps: the case may be fugly but look up reviews on it

As above said...

You want 400-480W good name brand PSU. You dont ned 550 watts.
Nec DVD burner or Pioneer 108 burner are great for only 80$ or less.
