i'm ordering the HP DV2000T...here's how it's configured so far:

CPU: 1.6GHz Core Duo T2050
RAM: 1gb (2x512mb)
OS: XP Media Center
HDD: 80GB 5400rpm SATA
Optical: CD-RW/DVD (i don't burn DVDs)
Display: WXGA BrightView
Graphics: Intel GMA950
Battery: 6-cell (12-cell bulges out)
Networking: 802.11b/g WLAN
-------------------------------------------------
Total: $839 (before $50 rebate)

the T5500 CPU (Core 2 Duo 1.66GHz) is an additional $67. i'm a college student so i don't need a power machine but would it be a worthwhile investment? the only benefit i can see is that C2D is 64-bit and i think the T2050 has a 533MHz FSB. help?

thanks :D

btw, General Hardware has many more ATers awake at this time and i would like to order this tonight, hence the posting in this forum and not SFF/Notebook

Want longterm future capability, primarily with Vista?

Then don't get stuck with a 32-bit CPU :)

Also, that bulging 12-cell battery (i have a 12-cell one :p) can be rather handy if you like to roam w/o power for longer periods of time ;)

/n7 hugs his bulgy-battery dv1440ca :p
