To summarize - the EOS 5D is a full frame 35mm sensor. That means that the effective focal lengths of lenses are as advertised. There is no multiplication factor.

The 5D does not accept any EFS lenses.

The 5D wins on wide angles, and loses on telephoto.

I prefer the term multiplication factor rather than "crop." (Personal choice - 🙂)

I'm leaning more towards the 5D now based on feedback. I'm going to wait and see what the Canon fall rebates give. If it is indeed $700 off for the 5D, putting it at $1500 after rebate, then I'll probably go with the 5D.

Being in the mountains, I'd really love to be able to take some nice wideangle photos.

the 5D is so much more in Canada i really doubt the US rebate will be $700. 400 to 500 after doubling maybe.
