1. put under sleep.
or
2. stay awake with drugs

I'm not really scared you see, I'm sort of looking forward to this 'empty feeling' after extracting all 4.. (that's a lot out of my mouth!)

I'm just wondering which would be the most fun.. I want to be awake so I can experience the hilarity of the drugs... well?

You don't want to be awake. You'll get plenty of narcotic enjoyment for the week or so following the removal...

you're not going to get any empty feeling, you'll just feel a lot of numbed down pain and your saliva dripping out of your mouth.

i would go to sleep... my oral surgeon said that he doesn't even give his patients the option anymore because there's no reason to stay awake.

yea but being put to sleep would be boring... you close your eyes and shut down... when you wake up, you're all done... wtf?

Stay awake! When I had mine removed, I was awake. Dentist offered to put me out, but I was like "No bitch! I ain't no pussay! :|" ;)

Anyhow, once the freezing wears off, you're gonna be in for a lot of pain.

I had 4 deeply impacted sideways wisdom teeth cut out of my jaw --- while I was only under local anesthetic :) now that was fun!

No seriously it wasn't bad and I wasn't going to get an IV because I hate needles! It took a little over a week to fully recover.

I would also like to add here that the pain killer I had afterword blurred imagination and reality so I was dreaming while I was awake -- and I returned to school while still on a smaller dosage of these things --- I think the teachers felt so sorry for me that they really took it easy on grades I missed during those weeks :)

Well, I just had my 4 wisdom teeth removed at 9am today. I came back into work at 12:30. Pains not to bad, just one side is swelled since they had to saw one out. I feel fine otherwise.

Having them pried out with a dull butter knife is waaaaaay more fun than either of those options.

Get put to sleep only because its easier for the dentist to work in your mouth if you are conked out. That means a cleaner extraction and neater stiches, which in turn means less recovery time for you.

I just had 4 impaced sideways teeth removed and I was fully functional 6hrs after they were all out. It sucks not eating real food for a few days, but other than that its ok.

Another vote for being put under. The idea of being awake to listen to them sawing into my jaw just didn't appeal to me.

Just make sure they give you some vicodin afterwards. :D

i gotta get mine cut out next week, all four of the bad boys. The surgery doesnt scare me, but not being able to eat hard foods for hours does

How are your teeth? Since mine only needed to be pulled (not impacted or anything difficult) I stayed awake. Getting the at least a half dozen novocaine shots was actually the most annoying part of the whole experience (no noteworthy pain after the fact). On the other hand, if your removing four sideways impacted teeth that need surgical removal, perhaps that's a case for being put under.
