about to convert to ntfs under XP need help now

I did a search and looked at the FAQs. I didn't see anything about this message from the command prompt


C:\Documents and Settings\rdd>convert C: /fs:ntfs
The type of the file system is FAT32.
Enter current volume label for drive C: watawhopper
Convert cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Convert may run if this volume is dismounted first.
ALL OPENED HANDLES TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID.
Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (Y/N)

It means a process has at least one file open on the volume.
If you continue data can be lost.

Did you close all apps etc (including the stuff in the system tray)?
Maybe it's just your pagefile, don't know how XP handles this (with 2k you had to reboot i.i.r.c.).

Well, I did say that you had to completely shut down everything first. Do a clean boot, and make sure that absolutely nothing is running.

It usually tells you it will set itself to run on the next reboot. Never got that message before.

I wish I would have known this before I went ahead and converted one of my FAT32 Partitions. I got the same message and I continued with the conversion. Luckily, no problems so far.
