As you may know, I've been looking for compact SUVs/crossovers for my future kids.
I looked at Honda CR-V. Their resale value is too strong and while I try not to care for looks, interior of 2010-13 looks like it's from the 90's. And for some reason, the used ones I drove really felt.... 'USED'- loud engine sound, smelly cabin, etc.
Same story for Rav4, I can't afford it for my budget (12-15K) or I end up with something pretty far up in age and mileage.
I test drove Kia Sedona & Hyundai Santa Fe. They're just too big for me and I don't need to 21-22 avg MPG just for that bigger space.
I finally test drove few 2011 & 2012 Hyundai Tucson, I was pleasantly surprised:
1. It's feature and value-rich, which is what they try to lure you for. Alloy wheels, partial leather trim, ABS, AWD, and etc for $13-15K with 30-60,000 miles.
2. Interior is MILES ahead of CR-V & Rav4 of same era, I really felt at home. This is 2010 Tucson interior:
3. It drove just fine for 4-cyl. It's 2.4 litre and 176hp. It never felt particularly sluggish like when I drove some Ford 4-cyls.
4. Again, Hyundai is undervalued due to their age-long image of 90's and early 00's. This is where I can take advantage of the value.
What are your thoughts AT? Anything in particular I should watch out for?
