I've been eyeing the canon s2 is for a few months and now have some extra spending cash to buy one. For a while i had been tried up between the S2 and S3.

The cheapest i have found the S2 for has been from buydig for 269 shipped. Normally the dell deal for 256 would have been cheaper but i live in Tx so there is tax.

The cheapest I've seen the canon s3 for has been about 340.

I am kinda reluctant to buy the S3 as i do not print out my photos. I am not sure how much that extra mega pixel is worth. The only other major appealing advantage that the s3 has over the s2 is a wide screen resolution shooting mode but i guess i could always crop. I also prefer the gunmetal gray/black look of the s3 over the silver s2 but that is something i can get by with.

What do you guys think i should do and do you know a cheaper place to get either? If i have to pay a little bit more i am willing to buy it in store as long as it is only a little bit more.

I am looking at the same camera....the S3 that is...I wouldnt buy anything under 6 megapixels as the technology changes so fast and the resale value of a smaller capacity camera is not that good. I have been looking for the last 2 weeks on the S3 and I will be getting this camera.

neither camera is all that great. so you will be ok with either. speaking from experience though being able to take 16:9 pics and then switching back to 4:3 awesome for lots of uses when tryign to fit wider shots in such as a large group of ppl, events, car shows, etc especially if you can't back up further, and why backup when you have 16:9

i always search pricegrabber.com . s2 for $279 shipped (free shipping, no tax to CA) from beachcamera.com, $365 for the S3 from butterflyphoto.com

I had no idea people concerned themselves with resale value of consumer level digital cameras.
