Hey guys,

I'm about to buy a new gaming rig. Here's the config I have listed so far (buying from Micropro... they built for free)... tell me if I'm good to go:

Nikao Zeus Silver Mid-Tower 300W P.S. (I like the oval-shaped window it has)

Upgrade from 300 to 400Watt Intel/AMD PS.

Extra Enermax UC-8FAB 8cm Case Cooling Fan.

Asus A7V333 Audio DDR Memory.

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (266MHz FSB).

Coolermaster DP5-6I31C CPU Fan.

PC2100 DDR 512MB 184-Pin .

Mitsumi 3.5" Black Floppy Disk Drive.

60GB 7200RPM Ultra/100 WD600BB (Western Digital)

32x12x40 CD-RW IDE Black Drive, Liteon.

PNY Verto GeForce4 Ti 4400 128MB Bulk.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy w/1394.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

Chicony KB-2961 Keyboard PS-2, Black.

Mitsumi Black Optical PS/2 Scroll Mouse.

I have a few questions:

1.) Should I opt for a Ti4600, or save the hundred bucks and stick with the 4400?
2.) Is XP1800+ fast enough?
3.) Do I need WinXP Pro, or is Home enough?
4.) Is the PC2100 DDR RAM alright, or do I need PC2400/2700?

Thanks guys. Oh, the grand total is 1257.00 including shipping.

Have you tried pricing what it'd cost to build an identical rig yourself?

Your questions can only be answered by you. What are you going to use your computer for? And are you overclocking??

Well, the Ti4400 is a better buy than the Ti4600. Yes, 1800+ is fast enough. WinXP Home is good enough. PC2700 would be choice--for your A7V333 mobo.

Home is fine unless you plan on getting a dual processor system or if you need the additional networking features of Pro.

Stay away from OCZ branded products. They were just sold to another company and have long been known to scam people and mis represent themselves to the public. Even if you are purchasing through a reseller, I don't trust their products.
