Pretty good for a guy that doesn't wear any sox. Btw, how much are 19" going for these days?

Have you looked at going dual 19? You can get thin bezel ones that will look very nice and there are many advantages to having 2 monitors over 1... suck as run your games on one monitor and have windows desktop on the other (keep up with IM's and email while playing the game.)

Suck as(s) indeed. :)

It's done, I'm happy with the thought of a 1920x1200 desktop. Can't wait to see it! :)

All monitors ghost to some degree (very tiny to a LOT) so I would be a little hesitant in buying this without reading a proper review.

Behold, the mother of all L2335 threads.

After reading through most of that thread (the important posts) I now realize that choosing a widescreen LCD just became even more complicated.

It seems several LCDs are using the same panel inside (no surprise there) but it was interesting to see that Apple is using the same LG panel that HP is using in this monitor.

I think, at least for me, it comes down to styling. Although you pay through the nose for it.

Since my entire computer comes in machined aluminum (including keyboard and similar coloured sound system and mouse) it only makes sense I go with a similar monitor to complete the picture.

The other issue is that I don't think I can handle playing games at such a high resolution for long. While I do plan to eventually upgrade my computer (beyond what is in my sig) I cannot hope to keep it up year after year to get the best possible IQ on screen all the time.

I think the lower 1680 by 1050 resolution of the 20" Apple display will be what I will be shooting for.

Apparently all the Apple displays are 16ms but it remains to be seen how the 20" one handles games. Hopefully it is as good as the other LG panels used in the HP and Apple 23" displays.

We shall see.

Aelius playing games at non-native resolution isn't a big deal. I do it all the time with desert combat and rise of nations on a 9800pro/vp171b combo and it's perfectly fine.

You pay for the apple styling through the nose. You also get only one DVI input vs hp's DVI, VGA, Svideo, Component and composite & PIP. The HP also does portrait mode via pivot software.

The apples are sexy, no doubt. I'd just rather save a few hundred bucks and get the extra functionality. HP's 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy and 3/3/3 year warranty put me over the top.

Very good points.

I still have not made up my mind and this makes it so much harder for me.

I will have to research to see how Apple's warranty works, especially for dead pixels. Previously it sucked big time but I don't know if they changed it or not.

Well back to researching.....

Nice buy dude :D

I got the 23" Sony one about 18months ago. Love it. Love the 1920x1200 resolution on it. Mine ghosts a bit but I'm not too fussed. I in fact don't game much on it but do and it isn't an issue with me. Of course faster is better :D

Dual DVI and Dual VGA. Has input 1 and 2 auto switch also. Nice feature.

Anyway, I have a 21" CRT and although I don't care about an extra 2 inches on a monitor, I'd love to have an LCD... but not at current prices still. Not for just a monitor.

Over $3k. Thank you google for my new 23" lcd display. :)

Nice LCD. :)

I remember when Apple was essentially the only company with a 23" LCD and they wanted lots 'o cash for it. Now, at $1,500, the new 23" LCD is sweet.

I'll be sure to follow up with a review once I get it. They pushed my ship date to the 17th (a saturday?). :(

I got rid of one of them, it was way too big. This is replacing the plasma and a 17" LCD. It's sortof in between. :)
