Hey guys,

I'm about to build a new pc b/c of the HotDeals Forum this wk, lol, and I need your advice about hooking it up. On the pc I'm using now I have a Maxtor ATA 8mb Cache 80gb HD. For the new 1 I'm building I have a Maxtor SATA 8mb cache 200gb HD, but I also have a spare SATA Compusa/Maxtor 2mb cache 60gb HD lying around. Instead of partitioning the 200gb HD and having one partition for the OS only, I wanna put in a completely different HD. Would it be ok if I put in the 60gb HD as my OS HD, even though it doesn't have an 8mb cache? Would there really be a noticable performance hit?

Sorry for the long post, but thanks for any help

in general i think you'll have lower performance with the 2mb cache HD. the OS will load slower, etc.
