I guess the pressure from Congress prompted them to finally ask for more money. Just a week ago Wolfowitz was saying they were fine through this year.

Considering we've only barely begun construction, rebuilding, training, restocking munitions/weapons, etc.. And keeping a 135,000-strong force on the ground for at least a year. And, just good ol' gov't spending patterns.

I think we should take bets on how much money is going to be requested after the election, assuming this 25 billion will make it that far. It would be a really stupid move on bushes part if this request dries up a few weeks a way from novemember.

And the previous dozen or so Presidents who contributed to the National Debt had nothing to do with it? Oh wait, that wouldn't fit your Hate Bush Agenda.

We are not going broke.. and if you want to complain about government spending, complain about ALL of it.. not just the Iraq spending.. otherwise you are just being a hypocrit. I'll tell you one thing, I get a hell of a lot more out of this Iraq spending than I do from welfare or countless other social programs and wasteful government programs.

I'll take the words of Paul O'Neill and Alan Greenspan who fretted over the growing deficit 3 years ago. And nothing has been done to stop the growth of the deficit since then.

I forgot helping americans is the same as shooting Iraqis. Thanks for that clarification. If you want spending to go to this war, then you obviously want increases in social programs or you define yourself as a hypocrite. We really need new avatar. A loon one.

Shooting brown people makes some Americans feel good, so Operation Iraqi Freedom helped America!

And I don't even personally take advantage of any of those programs (that I am aware of)!

What could be accomplished with 87Billion + 25Billion + ??Billion?

Security against a potential threat, payback for an insult and unfinished chore in 1991.

I've heard we need around $65 billion to support the troops for the year. I believe I heard on c-span from Joseph Biden and Chuck Nagel.

Frankly, I'd be happy to offer as many security guarantees to y'all as Bush can. Just give me the $25 billion, give or take a few hundred million for my agent, and I'll be happy to give you the same results the U.S. government will get or BETTER. And more QUICKLY. :)

Let's all bend over for Bush....

I will bet just about anything that if we had offered Saddam and his sons $25,000,000,000 to leave Iraq and be exiled to some island somewhere with their 777 wives, they would have accepted. :disgust:

We spent tens of billions bombing the hell out of Iraq just so we can spend tens of billions and hundreds of american lives rebuilding the country with war profiteering companies reaping all the benefits.

Where are the billions of dollars needed to repair/rebuild our roads, our schools, our urban and rural communities? Why is it that Iraq gets first priority while so many states of THIS UNION have to cut back.
The American people in my opinion is more and more being left behind by this administration in terms of trade, economic policy, foreign policy, you name it.
