New A2's arrived today (ordered them on Sunday). We can dismiss the ground loop idea unless it was particular to the Swan's. The A2's are dead silent with no input and at any volume level. I'm going to go ahead and open up the Swan amp speaker and give it a close examination - I'm imagining a swollen or leaking capacitor in the power filter circuitry.
We'll see. Thanks all for your input. The A2's have to grow on me and break-in. I'm psyched out by the tremendous difference in size between them and the Swans. There's too much empty space on my computer stand now. But as time passes and they work their way through my I-tunes library - they get better and better. I'm using the Asus Zonar Essence sound card.
