About the Sempron article?

Just read it to see if there was more life in Socket A, I guess not. 2800+ is the max? bleh. I guess my mobile 2500+ @ 2.4ghz will have to hold me until I'm ready for a platform change. I wonder if any of them will be good overclockers at least.

What i wannna know is how they come up with the codenames.

Looks interesting for sure.

I'm just suprised that their keeping the socket A alive for the near future, while it seems that Intel is abandoning sockets left and right...

AMD is castrating NX support too? Is that some requirement of AMD's implementation, that it only works in 64-bit mode? What about Intel, I thought that they were implementing NX support in regular IA-32 CPUs as well as IA-32x? I guess I need to read up on how exactly it's implemented. Hmm.

I remember reading that the 32bit processors were going to get NX. Just not yet I guess.

Even VIA says they will be supporting NX, so it's probably coming. Just late. 😛

Tell me...

I think I´m sticking to my Athlon XP 1800+DLT3C @ 2400mhz 🙂 , until socket 939 lowers it prices. Socket 754 is just not for me.

Coupled with 256KB of L2 cache compared to the Barton's 512KB.

That's why they only have upto a 2800+ rating. I'm curios to know the clockspeed of this model, the original TredB 2800+ was at 2.2GHz. Damn hard to cool to...

SO the Socket A Sempron is more like my 16month old 2700+ Tbred B 😉

Ok, so this chip is being release for both Socket-A and S754. Obviously the S-A chip will not have an on-die memory controller and the S754 chip will, not to mention different busses. Does this mean the S-A Sempron is just a rebagged AXP, or is a true K8 with the memory controller moved off-die? How is this possible?

Any info on what the mhz to PR will be like for each skt? I'm curious if for instance, the skt754 3100+ will have a similar clockspeed as say the 2600+ sktA model?
