what is the hard drive on a ps3 primarily used for? I dont download movies or music, so whats wrong with getting a 20gb ps3? And is 20gb enough for gran turismo 5 game saves?

PSN games and game caching will eat up that 20GB very quickly. The meatier games and demos have been averaging around 1GB each.

Oh, and the 20GB drive is noticeably slower with PSN games.

im getting by so far with the 20gb, actually 10 since i have linux installed. but i did max out this weekend when i was showing demos to my friends, of course i just deleted some and downloaded more, wasnt too much of a hastle but i think i will upgrade soon. thats the nice thing about the ps3, upgrade your HD yourself with no hastle from sony.

if I coulda have found a 20Gb for $100 less than I paid for the 60Gb I would have done it in a heartbeat.

The 20Gb on Xbox360 (13 of which is actually usable) is more than enough for me, so I know the 20Gb on PS3 would be more than enough for me.

I don't really see any point in keeping demos at all. I can tell whether or not I like a game after playing a demo a few times. I Just delete them afterwards.

Apparently the slowdowns are pretty bad for the Stranglehold demo on the 20GB model.

JUst want to make sure you didn't miss the other response that you miss out on built-in wifi if you go the 20gb route vs the 60gb or 80gb route.

heh.. I replaced my 60 gig hdd w/ a 400 gig SATA using this:
http://www.mrmodchips.co.uk/ca...fo.php?products_id=451

so I have an external enclosed 400 gig seagate HDD, w/ YD linux installed on a separate partition.

I did this mainly because you can install the entire UT3 game onto the HDD, and there will be mod support for the PS3 version as well. I can't wait!!!!
