About the half-life 2 ATI deal

Will I need the proof of purchase from my ATI box for any reason?? I was just looking at my little card from my ATI 9600XT that has my half-life 2 cd key on it and everything, and then I remembered that I threw the box out. Is that going to matter at all? Or will I just have to give them my cd key or something to receive the game?

if you want to valve/ati to send you the game cd by mail, you'll have to mail in your hl2 code along with the proof of purchase.. however, if you decided to download hl2 via steam instead, you don't have to mail ati anything..
