Hi,
I have a normal 44X CD ROM. Bought it sometime ago. Still runs good till now. But I wanted to ask if there a way to have the CD keep spinning. My CD ROM takes too long to spin up and at times, it causes a game to freeze. Pretty annoying I would say. Are there any softwares out there which could change the spin up times? or just tell the ROM to not stop spinning??

replies are much appreciated.

Thanks!

*workaround*
Do a full install of your game instead of the weaka$$ minimal 30 meg install, and it wont have to access your cd-rom at all, if you're lucky... unless you're playing one of those 20 cd games like myst 3 or something...

If you have been using your cdrom for awhile now, I would invest in a cd cleaner. It could be that the laser is dirty. I've had problems with my dvdrom locking up while playing games cause it would take a long time to read the cd and then I'd get a windows error. Since I've cleaned the dvdrom, it seems to work better than new and it doesn't take anytime to access a cdrom at all.

Do you have DMA enabled on your cdrom? That might aleviate any cpu useage that you could be losing when it's trying to access your cdrom as well.
