i heard ppl saying about sending wrong units to seti server, how do u determine that u've an incorrect unit processed???

Could you be more specific? Maybe post a link to where you saw something about this.

I don't believe there is a problem sending in "wrong" Seti Work Units. Are you running SETI?

We'd love to have you join our team. 😀

sorry i forgot which msg board i saw that already, but i remembered they discuss about overclocking the processor and crunch the WUs might send SETI bad WUs(useless WUs) if ur processor is not stable enough or something like that,...I'm searching for the thread back again see if I can find it,I'll post it here.

Yes, if your computer is overclocked "too much" the data could be scrambled. If you used one of our teams SetiQueues to download/upload your Work Units, you would know right away if your WUs are messed up because SetiQueue reports rejected WUs by displaying them in RED. 😉

Are you running SETI? Are you on a team? 😉

wheere to get setiqueues ?????? Yup,I'm currently in a team now, sorry~

Edit : nvm,i've reached seti queue home page 🙂

Welcome to TA's hangout helloguy
Out of curosity which team do you belong to?

Btw defective RAM can also scramble WU's with the same effect ,the WU is finished very early (can be a matter of seconds if its really bad!:Q).As long huge amounts of WU's aren't put out in this fashion its not a problem for SETI as they resend each WU 2-3 times to check for errors like these.

To answer your original question more precisely ,the way you tell you have a defective WU is that they finish exceptionally fast ,eg my XP rig does the fastest WU's in about 2hrs 55mins ,if it goes much below that then I either had a defective WU (man made interference in it for example) or my rig is goin FUBAR! 😉
