ok, i've got this scsi scanner (bought it like 4years ago) and that i would still like to keep it since its still doing its job.
however.
becasue being so old.
it uses a ISA slot for the scsi card.
and recently the computer that is connected with the scanner has been upgraded, and now its motherboard do not have isa slot anymore, and neither do any computer in my house do.
so what i want to ask is.
are there any where that u can purchases these scsi card for connecting to scanner with PCI port?
it kinda looks like a parallel connector on the card, but its a scsi , and also that i know almost nothing about scsi stuff.
thanks

erichui, if you don't plan on using the PCI SCSI card for bootable devices (such as a hard drive, or CD-ROM), you can get by pretty cheap w/ a card such as this Iwill 2930C or this Tekram DC-315U. Both units are less than $30US.

Both cards have a 50 pin external connecter, which is very likely what you'll need for your scanner. FWIW I'm running an Iwill 2930U+ Ultra SCSI PCI card (w/ 50 pin external) for an HP SCSI scanner, and it works like a dream (except for HP's crappy driver support under Win98, but that's another story).

I have a pretty old, but damned good H-P ScanJet IIcx. It runs on SCSI or its own card.

SCSI is easy . . . it outperforms most new scanners I have seen, and will last forever (It is built like the proverbial Mack truck!)

It has a Centronics SCSI connector that can easily be adapted to any modern SCSI card you get for PCI slot insertion.

BTW . . . for best results, put your SCSI card in PCI-2 so it will not be forced into IRQ sharing.
