Hello Everyone, i just remembered, its been almost a month since my laptop has been not working, my laptop was working fine before and after re-installing for two days, thats when the issue happened, when i turn on the laptop, it powers up halfway, but the message that says *Microsoft Coarporation* doesn't load up, it goes completely black after the power is loading. What could be the cause of this? Any suggestions? I've tried re-installing and turning on and off my laptop, but nothing works, I am using a different laptop instead for now untill my one works.I've been using it for three years, laptop company is Dell XPS M1530, my warranty/insurance has expired, so i can no longer ask the Dell service for help as they would charge me.

I suppose you could try holding down the F8 key immediately after start of booting to see if safe mode is available.

To determine if the basic computer is working, I would load a bootable disk such as True Image or even something like a WIN X start up disk. Download some utility such as SeaTools (for CD) and see if you can run that (by-passes the OS). If that works, then you either have a corrupted OS or even a bad hard drive. Use the SeaTools CD that you downloaded and prepared to evaluate the hard drive. If the hard drive looks good, then you will have to reload or repair the operating system software (need installation disk from Dell for that computer).

Please post what operating system (XP,Vista ??) was originally installed when you got your laptop. Also, please clearly explain what you mean when you say "...the issue occured after re-installing whole of my laptop". Do you mean you restored the Dell factory image, performed a Windows System Restore, or a completely new installation?

I made a complete new installation, using the Windows 7 operating system:)

When installing the laptop all over again, it was working fine for two days, but then it stopped working and does not load properly, it goes full black after the power loads.

Since you've got the installation DVD, use it to access the WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) and perform a Starup Repair. Note that you may need to reboot and run startup repair several times before WinRE gives you the message that "no problems were detected".

If a startup repair fails to fix the problem; perform a low-level format on the HDD, test drive integrity per C1's suggestion, and do a fresh install. It's been my experience that most of the problems users have when installing Windows 7 on a used HDD, results from not having performed a low-level format prior to installation.

Note that if a Dell Vista OS came with the laptop, the hidden factory restore partition is still there. Only a low-level format will remove it, and it needs to be gone before installing Windows 7.
