? about installing new HD and PSU

here's my set up
Antec Lanboy case with 350W Power Supply
AOPEN AK89-MAX MOBO
CPU AMD 64 3000+
DDRAM 1 gig Crucial
NEC 8x DVD Burner
Sapphire RADEON 9800PRO
120 gig western digital HD

I want to add another 120 gig maxtor hard drive (that I already bought...shoulda came here first huh?)
I have the two case fans, one in front and one in back (one blows air in, one blows air out) and a PCI slot fan as well .... the air coming out gets rather warm but only while playing games...

will adding this new HD make my case heat up significantly and will my power supply be able to handle it while playing graphic intensive games.. half life 2, farcry, and doom 3 work well besides for the heating up..

also since typing this I have to wonder if having a fan blowing in air (and dust) is a good idea.. my reasoning was that they really wouldn't be blowing out much air if all fans were set to blow out, if no air could get in... any ideas?

Your fan set-up should be fine, but what's the ambient temperature in your computer room? That has a lot to do with your case temp. You could try stretching some cut-up pieces of panty-hose over the shroud of your fan that pulls air in. You'd have to change it occasionally but it would keep some dust out.

I'm not too familiar with AMD 64 procs, but my guess is that the heat coming off of it and the video card is what's creating your hot exhaust air. Also make sure you have enough space behind and around your case (6" minimum all around, more would be better) for air circulation.

If you do add that second drive, you're adding a lot more heat output from your case. A bigger PSU will help, but if you go that route, also add another fan and try to set it in the case to blow over the drives.

the ambient temp in the room is average to cold.. it is never hot b/c our house itself was built in 1917 and has badinsulation... I was just wondering if 350W was enough to adequately power everything I have plus a new drive.. it's not going to cut out on me is it? also do I want to consolidate certain things on certain drives? like make sure the games I am playing are on the same drive as my graphics drivers and windows? and what about hooking up the drive ?? is it best to do it master/slave with the other drive or hook it up to my dvd burner?

Probably best to think about upgrading the psu.

What is the point in spending a fortune on hi spec cpu/mobo/ram, if you aren't going to look after the power source?
If you look in all the leaflets that came with your hardware, or on the hardware itself, you will find its power usage in Watts.
Add it all up, add another 40% to be on the safe side, and get a higher rated, good quality PSU.
By the way, if you want to sell your old psu................... let me know ;-)
