About DirecTV and Local Channels

The DirectTV official answer is no this is not supported. Here is what I am thinking. If I buy my DirectTV setup in one state with their local package and then later move that system to another state can I keep the other states local package. I know if I change my address and such with them they would switch my package but I have an address in the other state that I could use. I mean isn't this what those that travel with their DirecTV setups do? They have their local channels and wherever they travel they still get their local channels? It doesn't matter where the dish physically is right?

Will that let me select my locals though? From what I read I can only chose locals from new york. I am wanting KY local for UK basketball coverage

It may not work, even if they don't discover that you're not really local to that market.

The newer generation satellites they are using have "spot" capability ... meaning they can transmit several local markets from one transponder and frequency / block by focusing the beam into a spot that only covers that market.

So, even though you are enabled for a particular market, you may be out of the footprint for that spot.
