I have a really crappy Nokia cell phone right now (the free phone from a year ago). I want to get a new cell phone, but I dont want to sign up for any plans, so I'm thinking about buying online.

Is it as simple as taking the SIM card out of my old phone and putting it in my new phone? Or is there more too it? I really have no idea how this works.

As long as you buy an unlocked GSM phone (and it supports the frequency bands used in your area, which it usually will), you can just put your SIM card in it, yes.

Buy a phone that's already set up for your cell provider. Then just call your provider and they'll tell you what they need to get the new one working with your existing number. Yes, it's that easy.

<---- Former Cingular customer. Cingular sux.

Cingular does suck, but my dad is paying for it so I cannot complain too much.
